June 28, 2018 — IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries®, in conjunction with NEPCON Thailand 2018, conducted an IPC Hand Soldering Competition in Bangkok on June 20 - 22, 2018. The competition got “heated” as 29 competitors from 12 well-known electronics companies in Thailand competed at IPC’s Hand Soldering Competition at NEPCON Thailand 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. Taking first place with a cash prize of $300 and winning a JBC soldering station was Sukanya Judon, Bechmark Electronics (Thailand) Public Co.,Ltd – Korat Plant. As the winner, Sukanya Judon qualified for the IPC Hand Soldering World Championship at IPC APEX EXPO 2019, San Diego, in January 2019.
Second place and a cash prize of $200 this year went to Mayuree Wisethom, NEC Platforms Thai Co.,Ltd. Thidawan Yuangchan, Fabrinet Co., Ltd, took third place and a cash prize of $100.
Participants in the hand soldering competition were tasked with building a functional electronics assembly within a 50-minute time limit. A panel of independent judges evaluated each assembly based on workmanship, overall functionality, compliance with IPC-A-610G Class 3 criteria and speed of completion.
